Sophie Kinsella's next book will be about ...

Yep, you guessed it - Becky Bloomwood! The queen of WIT LIT confirmed it in an interview:

Q. What is your next book about?

A. My next book is going to be a Shopaholic book, but beyond that I'm not giving anything else away at this stage.

I know many, many people have been hoping for another Becky novel so there you go, this should make you/us all very happy! I'm obviously looking forward to reading about Becky's further (family) adventures too, it should be great fun as always! :)

YAY! I'm so excited for another Shopaholic book - maybe I will have to reread the series!

I have a confession to make... I have never read a Shopaholic book! I have read Sophie Kinsella's other books and loved them but just don't seem to have got round to these! Maybe I should have a go, people always seem to enjoy them!

Alicia - I don't think I'll manage to re-read the series (even though I'd love to), but yeah I'm soooo excited for a new Becky book, can't wait! :D

*gasp* Dot, I am shocked!! ;) Nah, just joking, but I still think you definitely should if you get the chance. I think those book actually got me into reading chick-lit because I realized it's a lot more fun that I thought it would be (that was years ago). I scorned at the title Shopaholic back then, thinking there couldn't possibly a more shallow book, but I gave in and read one (Tied the Knot) and I was instantly hooked! Now I absolutely adore the series and would wholeheartedly recommend it, it's fantastic stuff! Becky is just so loveable and I have a massive crush on her bf/hubby Luke, he's like the perfect guy, lol. The film was great too, but it's got nothing on the books so I suggest you read those first (if you choose to) before watching the film. :)

I shall give them a go!!

OOOHHHHH thank goodness for that! I hoped Shopaholic & Baby wouldn't be the last, I can't wait to see Becky as a mum!!

I knoooooow, it's bound to be a brilliant book, even though I expect it to be slightly different from the previous ones as Becky has changed quite a bit after becoming a mother if I remember correctly. I hope the novel takes us a few years later when Minnie is a bit older (e.g. 5 or so), I bet she'll be a hilarious character too! One thing's for certain though - I will be shattered if Becky and Luke get a divorce!! No idea why that thought crossed my mind right now, but that must not happen, I love them together! Whoops, getting carried away here, just wanted to say I'm super excited for the book, that's all. :) *zips mouth*

Alicia said...

NO! Why would you say that?! I am hyperventilating now...

Okay, I'm calmer now - a time jump would be fun!

Bookalicious Ramblings said...

No idea, I was just randomly thinking about the possible things that could happen and then that horrible thought hit me, eek! I'm sure it won't happen - I don't think I could handle it anyway! ;)

Alicia said...

If that did happen, we would need to form a support group!

Bookalicious Ramblings said...

And a helpline, there would just be too many broken hearts! I adore them as a couple and if they break up, then there's really no hope for the rest of us! ;)

Alicia said...

I know! The said thing is...they aren't real people! Does that make us pathetic?

Bookalicious Ramblings said...

You know, I was just thinking that myself - but people who would supposedly consider us pathetic obviously haven't read the books. :p It may seem silly, but the Becky & Luke fairytale is one I need to believe in, hehe! I'm fine with them going through tough times, that's normal, but I need them to stay together, that's just how it should be. :)

It's weird, usually after seeing a movie I associate the characters with the actors/actresses - but in the case of the Shopaholic movie I REFUSE! Now I feel I must read the books again!

Aww, so does that mean you didn't like Isla and Hugh as Becky and Luke?? Personally, I thought Isla was fantastic and adorable and she could easily replace my vision of Becky (minus the tacky clothes, please), whereas I imagined Luke to be more handsome somehow, but I suppose Hugh Dancy isn't too bad after all imho - well, at least he's got a fantastic BRITISH ACCENT, which alone is enough to make me melt (I'm a huge, huge fan of the accent, lol). :D

Alicia said...

I love Isla Fisher but I just couldn't get past my own personal vision of Becky Bloomwood, unfortunately :( Hugh Dancy was not my Luke at all either - I also love the accent! It's gorgeous, I feel like I should move to London and have children so that they can pick up the accent hehe

Bookalicious Ramblings said...

So what would be your dream cast then? :)
I'm right with you about moving to London and picking up the divine accent (children or not), but sadly I don't see it happening anytime soon, boo. A girl can dream though! ;)

Alicia said...

I don't know about my dream cast for Becky - all I know is that I wish the movie did not have her based in the US! I didn't like that - maybe it hindered my view of the rest of the movie!

A girl can definitely dream, maybe my husband will have an accent and then we can move to London and have adorable children with rocking accents and I will never adapt and keep my Western New York accent hehe! Maybe a little farfetched, but fun!

You have no idea how happy I am Becky will be back. I doubt Sophie would divorce Becky and Luke - she'd be murdered by her fans and I'd be FIRST IN THE QUEUE!!!!!

I'd love it if Minnie was 4/5 because that has so much potential for so much shopping!!!

Will have to re-read my Shopaholics in anticipation!

Btw, I loved Isla as Becky - minus the clothes! But I expected Luke to be a bit more... head of a company-type. Hugh didn't look as if he could be head of a company! (Does that make sense?!)

Bookalicious Ramblings said...

Alicia - yes, the US bit was the worst!!! If only Isla would've kept her Aussie accent, that would make it tons better. But still, I thought she was adooorable, just like Becky.

Leah/Chloe - Comment of the day!!! I'm still LOL-ing at the image of the enraged fans, hahaha! I'm sure it won't happen, no idea why that silly thought hit me in the first place, lol.
I knooow, we need Minnie to be old enough to be a little diva - let's just hope she doesn't take after Jess! ;)
Agreed, the clothes were mostly a bit tacky - especially the bridesmaid dress (I was relieved to learn that wasn't Becky's idea, phew - just thinking about her reaction when she saw it for the first time in the mirror still cracks me up!!!).
Oh yes, it definitely makes sense. I imagined Luke to be more bossy-like yet still charming and Hugh didn't quite fit my mental picture, although he was lovely too! I once saw a picture of someone who looked exactly like I imagined Luke, but now I can't remember who it was!

Anonymous said...

Leah! You can imagine the enraged fans can't you? LOL!

Oh yeah a mini-Becky would be fab.

Bossy-like that's the word! Hugh Dancy definitely didn't fit that image. David Boreanaz off Bones/Angel could fit that image I think... what do you think? (I'm going through all the shows I watch to see who I think is suitable!)

Bookalicious Ramblings said...

Not just a mini(Minnie)-Becky, I hope the young 'un will be even worse, would be fun to see how Becky handled it! Ooooh, just thinking about all the possibilities makes me soooo excited, why can't it be out already, the wait is killing me (and it hasn't even been announced yet, sigh). :(

Hmm, David B. perhaps looks too Latino for my taste. What about old school Nick Lachey as in this picture? I've always had a bit of a soft-spot for that dude (*bows head in shame*) and goodness knows he has lots of experience with a shopaholic, haha. But most importantly, he doesn't have the accent, the crucial bit!!! Now where are all the gorgeous bossy-like British actors when you need them?!?! ;)

Anonymous said...

At least then Becky would have someone to blame for all her purchases lol! How could Luke be annoyed at Minnie?!? I wish Sophie had given us more details. How cruel of her!

Nick Lachey.. possibly. We'll have to keep looking until we get the perfect Luke-a-like! (that was NOT intended lol!)

What about Scott Maslen (British, he's on Eastenders) http://www.hellomagazine.com/profiles/scottmaslen/scott-maslen1b.jpg

A better one of Scott Maslen, he looks a little less scary!

Bookalicious Ramblings said...

Oh yeah, the Minnie and Luke scenes are bound to be adorable, she'll probably be such a daddy's little girl! I'm getting more and more excited by the minute just thinking about it!

Haha, Luke-a-like indeed! :D Scott Maslen has potential, but he's just too common and too skinny for me, not bossy-like enough. Heeey, what about Chris Pine? My latest celeb crush - examples one and two. Sadly no accent, but he's quite stunning methinks! Either way, I guess the problem with Luke is that he's just too perfect to actually exist, lol!

As I'm from the UK it's so intersting reading that you love the accent - over here we love the American accent - always want what you can't have....

I enjoyed Shopaholic film but in my mind Becky wasn't so outrageously dressed! I like Isla and I'm sure if they make more films I will warm to her. I wonder if they will make movies of the series - does anyone know?

I am sooo excited about the new Becky book. I was hoping that there would be another one.

Bookalicious Ramblings said...

Ooh, it's impossible to not *adore* the accent! Honestly, I'm obsessed with it. I'd kill (figuratively speaking) to have it myself and I'd probably talk to myself and everyone else all the time then (not saying I don't do that now either (serious chatterbox alert), despite the fact that I have an 'exotic' accent, lol). I'm not too keen on the US accent, but anything is better that what I have to work with - another thing why it sucks to live in a small European country, hehe.

I was wondering that too, about more films - I hope so, but I don't think there's been any official news on that. Fingers crossed though!

Ooooh my God, a new Becky book. Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God. I can't wait. When is it planned? Probably for 2011, right?
Thanks SO much for those news, aaaah :) Have to tell all my friends ^^

Bookalicious Ramblings said...

No date yet, but it *must* come out in 2010, I/we cannot possibly wait till 2011, that'd be plain torture!!!!!!!

Rebekka said...

Aaah yeah, I meant next year and that's actually 2010 and not 2011. Stupid me. I really hope it'll come out soon. I guess someone should ask Ms Kinsella :) Speaking of her... I've also read a couple of books from her sister, Gemma Townley. She writes really sweet too!

Bookalicious Ramblings said...

Oh yeah, I've heard great things about her books too - maybe I should finally give them a try, don't know why I haven't already, heh!

Rebekka said...

You should. I'd recommend "When in Rome..." and "Little white lies". Those are the 2 I've read so far. In English, as I can't seem to get them in German. But that doesn't matter to me. I've read more English book the last couple of years than I've read German ones. I just prefer the "original" version of a book if you know what I mean :)

Bookalicious Ramblings said...

Ooh, I especially like the sound of Little White Lies - I've actually just ordered it since it was only like 4 euros with free delivery!!! Thanks for the recommmendation! :) Everyone's been praising her latest novel The Importance of Being Married too so I'm tempted to read it ...
I definitely know what you mean - English is my second language too and I really prefer reading books in English, the translation can never compare, however excellent it may be. :)

Rebekka said...

I'm sure you'll like Little White Lies. It's been 2 years now since I read it and I think it starts of a bit slowly... but it'll become better and better. And it made me want to read more from Gemma :)
What's your first language then? :)

Bookalicious Ramblings said...

It does sound quite promising and I look forward to reading it.
My first language is Slovenian. :)
